Our Story

It was Anne Houghton's idea to form the choir and here is the story in her own words

WHY START A CHOIR? WELL…………..
I wanted to contribute to the community of Raunds and the surrounding area

and I felt a choir, open to everyone of all abilities, would be a fun way to do this.
For several months I publicised my intentions, then sought a musical director and held the first initial evening in February 2010 and we have never looked back.

I served as its first chairman for quite a few years and then as treasurer

and committee member for some years.

Being part of the choir is something that I very much enjoy

and the fact that so many others now enjoy that too is very fulfilling.

Since that time we have gone from strength to strength. We organise and take part in our own concerts with the proceeds for charity. We sing in most of the local venues whenever they have a community event - this is particularly the case at Christmas time when we "carol" with the best. We have been involved with the Raunds Music Festival every year it took place and we enjoyed being part of the world wide Make Music festival in June 2019. On one special occasion in September 2017 we took part in an edition of the BBC's Songs of Praise at All Saints Church in Northampton. That was very hard work but extremely rewarding.
